Step by step instructions
Here is how to bake this strawberry cake. You will need a 9×9 baking pan lined with parchment paper, 3 mixing bowls, a spatula, and a whisk.
Step 1 – Prep. Slice the strawberries and set aside. Then zest the orange.
Step 2 – Mix dry ingredients. In a medium sized bowl, mix the dry ingredients and set aside.
Step 3 - Whisk wet ingredients. In a large bowl, add the eggs, white sugar, yogurt, vanilla, and oil. Whisk to combine and then set aside.
Step 4 - Combine. Add the dry and wet ingredients together and mix gently with a spatula until a soft cake batter forms.
Step 5 - Dust strawberries. In a bowl with the sliced strawberries, sprinkle 1 tbsp of flour and gently dust around to evenly coat them. Add them into the cake batter and mix a few times. Don't over-mix.
Step 6 - Bake. Spread the batter into the prepared pan and bake for 45-55 minutes or until a toothpick inserted comes out clean.

How do I store this cake?
This cake is best served fresh day of. It stays good in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days! I don't recommend freezing it as the glaze doesn't thaw very well.
Do I have to make the glaze?
No! This is also a delicious strawberry cake recipe without the glaze.
Do I have to add the lemon juice?
No. It does help balance the sweetness from the powdered sugar and strawberries though. You can add water or milk instead.

For the glaze
- 2 1/4 cups icing sugar
- 1 tbsp lemon juice or orange juice, water, or milk
- 1-3 tbsp fresh strawberries smashed
