Welcome to My Kitchen!
Hi! I'm Ania - I am the recipe developer, photographer, and videographer for Taffey Bakery! My blog is all about simple recipes with everyday ingredients. On my baking blog you'll find hundreds of sweet treat recipes that'll hopefully inspire you to create them with me!
How I got here
Growing up, I spent a lot of my weekends baking with my mama. I would take pictures of what we baked too. In 2014, I began my YouTube channel SweetTreats. I was only 13 years old and begged my mama to let me open a channel to share my baked goods. Although she wasn't even sure what I was doing, she saw how passionate I was and gave me permission (thanks mama!) It was then I was able to combine my love for videography and baking together.
From a young age I also knew I wanted to become a teacher, so I went for my undergrad for Childhood Education. During the thick of COVID when everything was shut down, I was in my third year of university and we were completely online. Like most people, I was stuck at home and still running my YouTube channel, but I was craving something more. I thought to myself, why don't I start a food blog? I had a lot of time and it was always in the back of my head. Keep in mind, I had no idea what I was doing. I distinctively remember Googling 'How Do I Open A Website?' and it was all so foreign to me haha. My boyfriend (now fiancée) helped me start my website, and I slowly started posting on here and learning how to do all the backend things!
Fast-forward I graduated from university in 2023 with a bachelor's degree in Childhood Education from the University of Guelph. At this point, I had a choice to either apply to teacher's college, or try to pursue blogging and make it into something bigger. Ultimately my passion made me decide not to go to teacher's college. I'm happy to write that I have been food blogging full-time ever since! Combining my passion for teaching with love for baking and photography has been a dream come true for me. If only my 14-year-old self who was filming on her iPod Touch in the kitchen could fast forward and see where we are today! This journey has been nothing short of amazing, and I feel incredibly blessed to share my passion for baking from my kitchen to yours.
All of my recipes have been tested in my own kitchen. They have photos underneath for easy-to-follow visual directions, so you can make them in your home too!
